background & colour tone

I have been refining my animatic for a whole week. I am still not happy with the beginning scene. Because it doesn't hoop up with the next scene on the street.

This is the background design for the second scene. The building style is quite like my home town, Harbin.

Characters & Technic

These are the main characters in this film, a mother and a son. The Son does not have as much performance as the Mother but his costume indicates that he is a traveler. His personality is a bit stubborn and he does not like to talk too much. In addition, he always lifts his backpack because it is quite heavy.

In contrast, the Mother has more performance in the film and stronger personality. She pays all attention on his son and cares about her son's trip, sometime her attitude is a little arbitrary. The red scarf wrapped on the son's neck has been made by her in the childhood of young man. Her habit is lifting her glasses.

For the technique, I decide to use Adobe Photoshop to do the animation. I was concerning about free hand drawing style, simple and natural lines. So I can make a pen brush to suit to my style. Pencil work on paper will cost too much time, so I am going to do the draft animation in toomboom and to clean lines in Photoshop. I will use some paper texture to make the visual style more interesting.

the first thinking of character

This is the first draft of my character. John, my teacher said he looks like John Lennon, does he? I should put a pair of glass on the character.

The Synopsis

Synopsis
A Yong Man argues with his mother about his travel. In a passion of rage he left with his backpack without saying goodbye, but he left one of his cases. When his mother discovers his case, she tries to catch his son and gives him the case.
She follows the young man all the way down to the train station. But the train just leaves. Accidentally, the young man did not catch that train. He discovers his mother who is waiting for next train. He says sorry and good-bye before leave.

I will create this blog for uploading some of my ideas for my films and something happens in my uni life. At the moment, I attend to a story for my 2D project. The story is about the relationship between a mother and a son which based on my real experience.
